Topaz Farm Holi

Holi, the Hindu festival of colors, marks the arrival of spring and is celebrated through music, dance, community, and the joyful throwing of colored powders.
Since 2022, I have been creating the annual marketing campaign and poster designs for Holi at Topaz Farm held on Sauvie Island just outside Portland.

Hosted by DJ Anjali and The Incredible Kid, the event combines Bollywood and Bhangra music with Portland’s only Holi celebration featuring organic color powders sourced from India and made from natural ingredients such as flowers, seeds, and vegetables.

Each year, the creative direction draws from different aspects of Indian visual culture, including hand-painted signage, truck art, rangoli, and festival graphics. Rather than relying on expected imagery, these influences help create posters that feel expressive, culturally connected, and distinctive.
Typography plays a central role in the work. Hand-rendered Hindi letterforms bring movement and personality to the designs, while bold color palettes reference the vibrant powders that are synonymous with Holi. Together, these elements capture the energy, joy, and sense of celebration that define the event.

The result is an evolving series of posters that has helped establish a recognizable visual identity for the festival while celebrating the rich artistic traditions that inspire it.
