Sarang is an EP by Indian musicians Anurag Choudhary and Pawas Gupta, whose music blends Indian classical traditions with contemporary electronic rhythms. The challenge was to create album artwork that visually reflected this balance between heritage and innovation.
The design centers around a custom Hindi-inspired wordmark created specifically for the band. Drawing from the visual language of Hindi typography, the lettering pays tribute to the project’s classical influences while adopting a geometric and minimalist aesthetic that feels contemporary and forward-looking.
The vinyl cover uses typography as its primary visual element, allowing the custom lettering to become a direct expression of the music itself. Traditional references and modern forms work together to mirror the duo’s unique fusion of acoustic and electronic sound.
The final artwork creates a visual identity that feels both culturally rooted and contemporary, reflecting the same blend of tradition and experimentation found throughout the EP.
